Dr. Helper is always willing to explain procedures and seems quite proficient at what he does. His office staff - not so much. I have yet to call the office and not be placed on hold immediately. They often don't remember your name and need to be schoooled in customer service. Dr. Helper would be well served to find staff to support him that are of his calibur and are focused on providing service.

My family and I had been going to Dr. Helper for over 20 years. I was satisfied with his service until a few years ago when my dog required x-rays. We took him in to see Dr. Helper and were extremely disappointed at the service. During the x-ray Dr. Helper did not sedate our dog. His hips were forcefully stretched out in order to check his hip joints during the x-ray. This not only caused him anxiety (we now have problems taking him to the doctor) but also pain. Then he was crated and we were left waiting in the waiting room for over 4 hours until someone came out and acted surprised to see us. It was frustrating and caused us great anxiety. As long time patrons we expected better. Needless to say we are no longer seeing Dr. Helper. I would recommend to anyone to see any of the other doctors in the practice if you have to go to the Northview Animal Hospital. Dr. Helper's attitude has gone downhill tremendously since he made it to the big time with his own nice big building. He has forgotten how to care about our smallest family members.

We have had two dogs (a Westie and a Greyhound) who saw Dr. Helper as their Veterinarian sice 1990. He is an outstanding vet who cares about the animal and lets the owner know the facts of a case. When he is unavailable, we have brought our dogs to Drs. Pauly, Ausman, and Romero. They are excellent, too. Dr. Romero had to put one dogto sleep. She and the vet tech were so very loving and caring during the procedure, it made her passing much, much easier than it could have been. I highly rceommend Northveiw Animal Hospital.

Dr. Helper is a wonderful vet--kind and thoughtful. He truly cares about your animal's well-being. I was seeing a different vet who kept trying different remedies for my dog's allergies, but she was just throwing out ideas. Dr. Helper's treatment was evidence-based. He also went further with diagnosis, doing skin samples, etc. I've been going to Dr. Helper since 1993.
